
Personalizing supercomputers is the new trend manufacturers are resorting to. Just days after we saw the Asus ESC 1000, a 1.1 teraflop supercomputer, we have Maingear flipping in its own versions of the personal supercomputer to redefine performance and design in personal computing. Dubbed the Maingear Shift Intel P55, the first PC in the two unveiled models features an Intel Core I7 800 processor, ATI Radon or NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, Intel Kingsberg P55 Extreme motherboard and options to choose from up to 6 hard drives, or 12 SSDs and a Blu-ray or DVD player.
A house of immense power and solid exterior, the Maingear Shift is clad in an aluminum case with a steel skeleton. The built-in power just adds proficiency to everyday chores, making all activities quick, smooth and efficient. The PC is fitted with an advanced cooling system that includes liquid cooling along with an innovative bottom and top airflow.
The other revealed Maingear PC is the Shift Intel X58, this one besides the innards of the Shift Intel P55 includes an Intel Core i7 900 processor, an EVGA X58 SLI Classified motherboard and up to 24GB of DDR3 RAM. Preinstalled with Windows 7, the SHIFT Intel P55 costs $2,199, while the Shift Intel X58 starts at $2,599.
