A New York Times company R&D lab in the form of data-bearing mirror, has developed a new device dubbed the Magic Mirror. The company uses Microsoft Kinetic’s motion-sensing technology in the mirror which looks like a normal mirror but actually is much more. The Magic Mirror can judge the physical movement of the user and can recognize the voice of the user, it can give the information on demand and to do so the mirror employs NYTimes APIs.

The Magic Mirror, as the name suggests, is a device which can replace the normal bathroom mirror of every household. A user, while brushing teeth can get all information about news headlines and can watch videos. This mirror can be used to schedule calendar events and to exchange messages with other members of the family. The mirror can be used by a user as his personal diary where he/she can save his personal articles, videos and other related information. The mirror is made not only for getting news information or entertainment but also it guides about the health, there is a shelf made at the bottom of the mirror embedded with RFID which helps in transferring the data from the electronic tag of the product and after that gives the information regarding health about the product that how to use it. As there is personal schedule made by the user on the mirror screen by which mirror guides the user about the schedule, like if there is a trip coming in schedule it gives the suggestion to the user what to take with him in his trip and what is interesting about the trip.
