The idea of super-sized laptops may not seem feasible to you, but top manufacturers including Dell, Acer and Samsung are moving ahead with plans to create laptop computers of the size of briefcases.

The demand seems to be fueled by the growing popularity of 19- and 20-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors. However, we cannot sideline the fact that these mammoth machines do kill mobility and in this case, manufactures will perhaps have to hunt down the possible consumers who would really go for big models. And, in fact they did it much before the actual launch of the models in the name of gamers and large screen lovers who never mind limited mobility.
Acer displayed its 20-inch mega-model this week in Taipei at Computex, which the company is pitching as a wonderful desktop alternative. Dell and Samsung too are not far behind.
Overall, if we consider performance, looks and mobility, the big models are a good bet, especially for those who really thing big and hate the tedious UMPCs.
