Take a sniff. Feel that! That’s the smell of gizmos and gadgets. CES is upon us (sorry lost it there). But as I said CES starts next week and already we have some big announcements on our hands. LG.Philips LCD, for one, has promised some really big screens come next week.
The tech-giant will showcase a 47-inch double sided LCD that can project images on both sides. The single backlight using screen is meant for public displays (the kind you come across malls and like). This LCD is claimed to be 30 per cent thinner than the conventional displays and stands at a mere 70mm thick. There has been no compromise on the luminance though and it is kept standard at 500 nits.
The company has promised other displays too. There is a 52-inch LCD flaunting a multi-touch screen, 84-inch screen for public displays, 47-inch LCD that reflects three different images depending on angels and so on. But the two-sided LCD has gotta be the thing to watch. I mean think of the possibilities. Put one in the middle of the room and you and your spouse can watch different things. Now that’s a marriage saver, if there ever was one!
By the way any chance the model showcasing LCD above makes it to CES? Well, fingers crossed.
