LG pops up the world’s thinnest LCD TV, only 2.6mm thick

The race for the thinnest TV is on the prime, and the showdown for the New Year’s Consumer Electronics Show has begun alright. I guess we haven’t forgotten the Sony KDL-40ZX1, the 9.9mm thin LCD panel we saw mid last year. If that was the thinnest then, LG has shattered all shackles of thinness and has popped up a 2.6 millimeters (0.1 inches) thin TV to rock the world with its amazing sleekness.

Reckoned as the thinnest LCD TV in the world, this wall-mountable 42-inch panel weighs about 4kgs and has an ultra-slim, edge-lit light emitting diode backlight system and proprietary optical film technology for better picture and functionality. There’s no word on the price yet, but it goes without saying that it will be there at CES, and we’ll update you with it then.
