It seems LG will now have the upper hand in the battle for OLED TVs, LG has upstaged Sony in launching their version of a large-screen OLED TVs. This announcement was made by LG's CEO Kwong Young-Soo at an event in South Korea where he declared that the company would now be focusing more on large screen TVs. Earlier, the company was more focused towards small and medium sized OLED displays. However, the news came as quite a surprise to many observers that the company has decided to focus on large screen OLED TV rather than extending their OLED displays for smartphones and tablets.

Initially, the production of these large screen 55" OLED TVs would be kept limited owing to production facilities. However, after closely observing market reactions and expanding their production facilities, the company would be able to mass produce these TVs. Currently, the company produces only about 4000 glass sheets for OLED panels. By the end of this year, the company plans to expand its production to 12,000 glass sheets. Production will be further expanded after a year or so with the launch of the large screen OLED TV.

Currently the price of OLED TVs is quite high. That is why Sony's OLED completely flopped to capture the market. However, with large scale production, the price of OLED TVs should come down and a market segment for these accessories will definitely be created. After all, it is very hard to ignore what the OLED TVs that offer - better picture quality, thinner profile, and lower power consumption, the only thing is that the prices of these TVs should be affordable and they sure will make big success.
