LG Display and iRiver combine for new eBook readers

LG Display in collaboration with iRiver has announced a $5 million venture to develop an e-book reader. And, as the agreement says, the two companies will establish a new company called L&I Electronic Technology Limited that will be tasked with OEM development, production and sales of the reader. LG Display will make an equity investment of 51 percent into the new company and iRiver will invest 49 percent. The production is slated to begin at the iRiver's e-book plant, which will produce 1 million units in the year 2011.
