Guess what you are about to get a state of the art antennas! Away with the boring long stick that juts out of your TV or a mobile now you are going to get your well deserved trendier ones.
Peter Kofinas, an associate professor of Maryland University discovered a bendable material made up of nanometer-sized particles of iron and strontium. The material is a self-organising polymer possessing both magnetic and dielectric properties which can be easily moulded making possible antennas of any shape in the near future. Besides, it also allows greater flexibility for a lighter, smaller, more efficient design and better looking antennas than the regular ones.
The US Air Force has given $367,000 to Kofinas to introduce his new creation for use in protective covers for radar equipment and other types of shielding for electronics.
