emotional robot

While we humans still do not have a measure of our emotions as we go overboard with reactions at times, there are robots who could pip us in the exercise of emoting. Dubbed the KOBIAN, a robot developed by a research team at Waseda University and tmsuk - a robot manufacturer - is capable of emoting delight, surprise, sadness and dislike using its entire body. KOBIAN uses motors to move its lips, eyelids and eyebrows to add to the body movement. Other than emoting, this robot can walk, perceive and perform physical tasks. A double joined neck for this robot ensures that its postures are more expressive. I chose “grief stricken” in the head for that is his best pose for me. Video after the jump.
