Kenya Airways has formally announced its commercial use of Boeing 737 Flight Simulator

It was only yesterday when we talked about Pateul's incredible 737 Cockpit, and now it's time for Kenya Airways to adopt the Boeing 737-800 Next Generation simulator. This advanced simulator manages to fastidiously replicate the actual deck layout and the features of a B-737 control system, with importance given to visual and three-axis motion system.

Kenya Airways had recently unveiled their KSh 1.05 billion ($12.6 million) Pride Centre II training center, and this is where this advanced simulator will be located. The system will be used for both standard operating procedures and also for training pilots on emergency procedures (and thus its advantage to real time scenarios). But before the first batch of pilots was selected for training in this simulator, they had to travel to Europe, Dubai, South Africa and Addis Ababa for additional experience in other simulator training programs.

Coming to the simulator itself, Kenyan Airways authorities have a reason to be proud, as this is the only one of its kind in East and Central Africa. The system will be available for 20 hours a day for 5 batches of crew members. And in a bid to accelerate the process, the exalted aircraft manufacturer Boeing itself has come forth to train the Kenya Airways trainers at the facility.

Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Titus Naikuni said during the official launch:

Airlines in Africa have traditionally relied on training programs developed and offered in other parts of the world; this flight simulator commissioning shows that we have come of age to develop our own relevant programs. It also allows us to manage the turnaround time during refresher courses for pilots.
