KegMate + iPad = Beer frenzy the DIY way

Posted By: Gaurav Sood | Aug 12 2010

‘Work hard and party harder’, if you by the same notion then you better build your own Kegmate beer dispenser powered with an iPad. The project is brain-child of engineers at Yelp who wanted an interactive beverage dispenser that could display information about current beverage and keep a track of the beers dispensed by an individual.

Crucial components required for you to complete this project are Arduino micro-controller, RFID reader, analog sensors, temperature sensors, iPad software along with other random stuff. To use the iPad's dock connector for serial communication one must either be a part of Apple's MFI (Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad) program or jailbreak the iPad.

You can catch more on the Kegmate project homing-in on code and schematics by clicking here.

NOTE: This DIY project involves beer, iPad and electronics so you better be careful while venturing out on this project.
