The moment the concept of flying cars started taking concrete shape, embellished by Moller International’s M400 Skycar and the LaBiche Aerospace FSC-1TM Flying Sports Car, we started construing that medium-sized personal choppers and planes will soon be passe. However, we were not aware that some geeks are busy morphing these old flying machines into something invigorating to lure flying freaks to the core.

Japan’s Matsushita Electric Industrial Corporation has powered this latest glider-like plane, named Kamiya, with its powerful 160 AA ‘Oxyride’ batteries, which is in fact the world’s first one-seater dry-battery powered aircraft. Although, the cool looking machine was able to soar just five meters (16 feet) above the ground, it’s indeed a great accomplishment as far as battery-powered flying machines are concerned.

The Kamiya has a 31-meter wingspan and weighs 53 kilograms (117 pounds).
