Here’s an interesting idea! Say your friends desert you while jumping rope? Should you bother with counting? Na! Designer Jacky Wu has envisioned a rope that’d use the ubiquitous LEDs to make double Dutch more fun. The device records each revolution as one skips and then displays the count using LEDs embedded on the rope itself. And for those undertaking skipping as an exercise, the intelligent rope would also report results in terms of calories burnt and time taken. The results would be displayed as counters that hover in the air, thanks to the LEDs of course. Obviously the device is only a concept at present. And it really makes no sense for people like me, whose count of skips rarely goes beyond 10. But as a mobile fitness too that features the latest in tech, this one’s a winner.
