John Corbett’s auto part sculptures are unique and expressive

Sculptures were never considered to be backed with a halo of environmental goodness. But these sculptors, of which John Corbett is one, have actually blended the goodness of recycling with the genius of art. John, a master sculptor, actually turns scrapped auto parts into sculptures worth thousands of pounds. The Australian artist uses old car parts like gears, plugs, nuts, bolts and radiators retrieved from junkyards, cleans them and then welds them together for these sublime creations currently displayed at the John Davies Gallery in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucs until December 19.

Explaining his passion and inspiration, john says:
I was working at a wrecking yard and a guy I know who races in stock cars showed me a trophy he had won that was made of car gear sticks. I looked at it and thought that I could do a much better job so began making my own sculptures. After a while, people started taking more and more interest in what I was doing and now I do it for my living - it really is a dream come true.
