The passionate researchers at the Waseda University have devised a polymer based rechargeable battery that is flexible and see-through. The flexible plastic battery comprises approx. 200 nanometres thick redox-active organic polymer film. The battery boasts a superior charge and discharge capability, thanks to its high radical density. Startingly, the battery needs just one second to get a full charge. The photocrosslinking method employed by the Japanese team outruns the problem of self-discharging of the battery. These batteries are anticipated to be used in applications that require high-power capability rather than high-energy density.
