Japanese researchers develop floating chair we’ll all love to hover in

Japan's Kobe Gakuin University researchers are developing an arcade air hockey inspired levitating chair, which when completed, would be made to hover on a small cushion of air. Being developed as a rehabilitation aid for the elderly, the sports car seat-styled floating chair prototype features a compressor which throws air from the openings underneath to lift the chair airborne. The chair makes mobility easy by allowing the users to move around the chair by dragging across the floor with their hands, for further facilitation, the chair can turn right, rotate and float with about 330 pounds on it. Unfortunately the chair can only move horizontally, not vertically, but still the effort is worth recognition. Video after the jump.
