Japanese HRP-4C robot is a supermodel wannabe

Japan’s HRP-4C humanoid robot is quite different from the sci-fi robots that you would think of, it is specifically made for the catwalk. This 5-foot-tall, 95-pound robot from Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology has 30 motors to coordinate body movements, and another eight to display facial expressions. The motors in the face didn’t work well in the demo of the robot, and it maintained a “surprised look” even though the demonstrator tried to coerce it into other expressions. The HRP-4C will make its fashion show debut at the Tokyo Fashion Show next week. Should you need a supermodel for yourself, the HRP-4C will go on sale for a price of $200,000.
