Google Android’s craze and usability has reached such a magnitude that it is now finding place in just about everything. Latest to use the platform is an Android-based robot by RT Corp and Brilliant Services, which was shown at the Google Developer Day 2010 in Tokyo, Japan. Dubbed the RIC android is probably the world’s first robot whose control software runs entirely on Android. Based on the RT’s robot inside character used in stuffed animal suits, the RIC android wears that familiar Droid suit and has two legs and feature moving pair of hands and head controlled wirelessly.

The RIC (robot inside character) android robot can create synthetic sounds and also play music using its embedded speakers. Priced at about ¥525,000 (approx US$6,266) presently, the RIC android is basically designed to help companies promote sales of Android-based devices, but by April 2011, the creators wish to extend the robot’s functions by delivering motion data to it. So stick around for more development in this one of a kind Android-based robot.
