Japan prepares before robots become real terminators

Posted By: Vikas Shekhawat | May 27 2006

The first law of robotics, as set forth in 1940 by writer Isaac Asimov, states:

robots strike
robots strike

"A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm."

Perhaps, this is the right time to prepare for the final battle before the robots strike back with power infused by us only. We have been proudly equipping these machines with more and more muscle and realizing their growing power Japan, one of the pioneers in doing so, is finally taking the initiative by taking off some poison off the fangs.

Japan is preparing a new set of safety guidelines for next-generation robots that states that 'humans shall not be harmed by robots'. The upcoming robots will be more under human control equipped sensors; emergency shut-off buttons and designed out of lighter or softer materials.
