While Pentagon’s mad science agency, DARPA is reading an unmanned spy plane that can stay up in the air for five years, Israel’s Air Force has a Heron-TP type drone that can fly for more than 24 hours on a stretch developed for themselves. The (strong in Hebrew) has a 26 meter wingspan and for the dimensions is, 24 meters long and 4.5 tons in weight. Created by Israel Aerospace Industries to fly to an altitude of 13,000 meters with about a ton of paylod, the Eitan is stuffed with radar, cameras and mapping devices which adds to the drone’s ability to stay airborne for over 24 hours. Until we find how this works and what is the fuel that it consumes, Eitan remains a mystery for us.
