With the joys that modern technology brings us, it's almost cruel that those who aren't blessed with eyesight should have to go through life without experiencing it. There have been major technological advancements that help the blind interact with computers with braille, although that could just be the tip of the iceberg. There are plenty of ideas of what could be done through modern technology to make modern day gadgets accessible to the blind. iSense is one of them.
The iSense concept aims to translate entire iPads and their applications into braille for blind users, by means of a protective cover made of a material that adapts itself to form braille patterns under the influence of light. The video below will make it clearer. Essentially, the iSense would convert words, icons and graphics into braille equivalents, making iPads more than usable for blind users, providing support for browsing the web, using braille keyboards, and even playing games like tetris, which really is quite incredible.
Just to re-iterate, the iSense isn't real. It's a concept - and a great one at that. Maybe someday, given the right research, and upon finding the right materials, it may be possible to simulate vision for the blind, which would be an amazing feat.
