IRIS autonomous car for blind takes text messages as input

A revolutionary four-wheel dirt buggy developed by the Blind Driver Challenge team from Virginia Tech’s Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory was the first drivable vehicle for the blind. With the objective to tame the advancement in technology and automation in transport, designer Eric Leong has designed a futuristic robotic car for the blind - he calls it the IRIS. The autonomous transport vehicle is a beautiful extension of anything automatic ever made, given the fact that the IRIS takes text messages as destination input, and then using the GPS and other such futuristic technologies guides the lazy bumps and the visually challenged around the city and elsewhere. Designed with blind in mind, the IRIS could also be a car for the low-income demographic.
