[CES 2010 preview]. Now, this is some task for me. Should I introduce this as an iPhone/iPod Touch controlled flying drone, or more specifically the Wi-Fi enabled Parrot AR.Drone. Neither is important you’d say, and I agree, what’s important is that the quadricopter could be seen flying at the CES. This weird flying object from Parrot, that’s known better for their Bluetooth gadgets, has open source software to instigate programmers to create games for the AR.Drone. Featuring two on-board cameras, one for stability and the other, on the front, for live streams at 15 fps @ 640 x 480 pixel resolutions, it is easy to handle the AR.Drone with mere tilts in the controlling devices for piloting, and using on-screen controls on the iPhone/iPod to control altitude etc. There’s no word on the price of availability of the AR.Drone yet, but let’s have our fingers crossed and hope it comes out soon.
