iPhone 4 myth busted: Trimming iPhone 4’s MicroSIM fixes antenna issue
Steve Jobs has got his work cut out with iPhone 4 going through a series of hardware issues that are making the users ever the more restless. Major one among those issues is the iPhone 4 antenna reception problems experienced by users, which depletes the signal considerably while holding the phone in a certain manner. Few fixes to this problem are up in the cloud, but the latest one is a bit off-beat and insane for sure. Mac Rumors Forums says that the problem can be fixed by trimming and adjusting the Micro SIM. This way SIM contacts don’t touch the metal tray, thereby preventing the shorting of iPhone 4 SIM when held from the sides.

It is evident from the picture below that Apple and AT&T are using different types of micro SIMs having larger contact area.

Obviously users who read this troubleshoot tried it, but all in vain. The fix didn’t work for them, and neither did it work for technology reviewers at Engadget who tested the work-around on some of their problematic iPhone 4 smartphones.
So, it is advised not to try out any of these fixes until and unless we hear anything on this issue from Apple. Steve Jobs has been in denial mode on the iPhone 4 reception problem for almost a week now, but he’ll have to come up with something other than tactical talking.
