The ioDrive Duo from Fusion-io claims to be the fastest solid-state drive in the world. The drive uses the PCI Express data bus for the transfer of data, and can sustain 20 Gbps of throughput, 1500 MBps read bandwidth and a 1400 MBps write bandwidth. The specifications actually do show that the device is much faster than its competitors are. It is currently available in capacities ranging from 160GB to 640GB, with plans to reach the 1.28TB mark later this year. Targeted at businesses, it comes with the ability to restore lost data and repair failed devices. The ioDrive Duo costs “under $30 per usable GB.”
