Introducing the all new and 'cocky' Steampunk Iron Man

Steampunk has always managed to channel those quaint yet alluring 19th century idiosyncrasies into our modernistic time frame. But a Steampunk version of Iron Man would certainly be counted among one of its most "macho" iterations having ever taken place. And that is exactly what PackRat Studios have managed to convincingly achieve - our very own "down to earth," delightfully contrived Steampunk Iron Man.

According to the studio, they specialize in developing, building and painting custom action figures. And in actuality, they have outdone themselves in every one of those aforementioned departments. Visualizing the Iron Man in a Steampunk-esque suit is difficult enough, but fastidiously creating one really notches up the level.

Well, Tony Stark must have had to really work hard for his venerable armor (made of copper, steel and brass), as the suit ornamented with a myriad of rivets and weld seams is visualized to be juiced up by steam power, which in turn is fueled by the combustion chamber in the chest. According to the designer, the suit is around 12 inches high with 37 points of detailed articulation (joints), including ball joint shoulders, swivel bicep, hinge elbow, ball jointed wrists and even fingers. The suit also has that ubiquitous chest light that can actually be turned on from within, by opening a rear hatch.

The creators have obviously not forgotten about the "creator" himself - Tony Stark. He has a 4-inch figure, which comes with custom-made hammer and goggles, and a tool belt. The goggles are removable and can be worn on the head, placed over the eyes or removed from the figure entirely, whereas the hammer can be held or placed in his belt.

Moreover, the intricately embellished figures have been masterly painted by using acrylic colors along with numerous washes, rubs and details.
