Internet Renaissance is finally here!
The ITR or Internet Renaissance Robot developed by Speecys Corporation is the first humanoid robot that downloads internet content. In fact it's a compact droid that download Internet content or we must say robot content, including news and weather, children's programming and music programs, via wireless LAN and present it to the user with its voice and movements.

The price tag of 190,000 yen ($1,600) will not keep content developers to grab the consumer version of ITR in September.
For communication the IEEE 802.11g compatible ITR uses Speecys' own Robot Transaction Markup Language (RTML) as a protocol and do all the downloading via an adaptor, even from a mobile phone web browser. The ITR is able to communicate via sound and motions owing to 'motion browser' and a library that stores all the emotional expression motion data.
Internally the ITR features Futaba's RPU-50 CPU and RS301CR servo motors and Speecys OS Rev. 2.0. There is a pair of speakers and 168 LEDs fitted in its chest and hands. The 1.5kg ITR is powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium polymer battery, and also features USB and serial ports, a Mini SD slot and audio connection port.
