Intel has been leading the race of best processor for quite some time now; only thing that had worked in favor of AMD so far is their excessive pricing. AMD’s price performance ratio has been better than Intel’s and the difference is really convincing and attractive when it’s about low range processors. But it seems that Intel is all set to change this lone area of AMD’s dominance. If a thread at Coolaler is anywhere near the truth then we will soon see a new entry level 45nm processor from Intel. Thread’s studded with pics of this “Intel Confidential” processor and screenshots of system profiler apps showing details of this processor.

CPU-Z shows this chip to be E5200 with a 45nm Wolfdale core clocked at 2.5 GHz with 2MB of Cache and 800 MHz front-side bus. Cooler has also posted screenshots of overclocked E5200 on 2nd page of the thread. It shows E5200 to be overclocked at 4 GHz with 320 MHz (1280 MHz effective) FSB and voltage up to 1.384V from 1.208V. Spec-wise E5200 is a close neighbor of E7200, which is clocked at 2.53 GHz with 3MB of cache and 1066 MHz FSB. E7200 is priced at $130. Law of speculations would help us say that it’s going to be fairly priced at around $100.
