Intel has suddenly evolved in the world outside the innards of our computer. Their latest venture is into the world of public displays, for which they have developed what is a 7-foot-6-inch multi-user, multitouch Digital Signage concept. Intelligent and interactive to the core, the prototype running Intel Core i7 processor and Windows Embedded Standard 2011 platform has been formulated for the National Retail Federation Convention (NRF) in New York.

These displays would make a customer’s shopping experience more vivid with an interactive approach that would let them explore augmented reality-enabled map of the NRF. While the retailers can exploit the displays to superimpose images such as coupons and sales promotions next to their products make it easier for the customers to know what’s where. This Intel Digital Signage will also open new opportunities for advertisers, who based on the systems demographic monitoring can display graphics pertaining to the gender and age of the onlooker.
