Indian students develop sustainable helmet that charges mobiles

Combining road safety with the biggest Indian craze –mobile phones, two engineering students, Pragnesh Dudhaiya and Aalok Bhatt of Nirma University in India, have developed a two-wheeler helmet that can double as a cellphone charger. The helmet which is a result of three days of labor was done for the college’s “green fest.” There isn’t much on how exactly the helmet charges mobile phones, but it is learnt that this Rs 1000 (approx. $23) helmet uses solar power to charge in the day, while it employs wind energy to charge during the nights.
