Indian innovation: A bike that can seat seven

Posted By: Harsh | Feb 2 2009

Mohammad Sajeem from Kerela, India has created a bike that can “comfortably” seat seven people. The bike costs INR 15,000 (USD 305) to build. Its four-speed 350cc engine can run on either gasoline or kerosene and provide a fuel efficiency of 45 kmpl. Sajeem says he could bring the production costs of the bike lower if he were to mass-produce it. The 2.5 meter long bike can move at a top speed of 60 kmph, and offers a turning radius small enough to maneuver through small lanes in some Indian cities. People are appreciating his idea, and Sajeem received almost 600 orders on the first day itself. The bike is currently on exhibition at the 21st Kerala Science Congress.
