A simple technology that was previously used by Al-Qaeda to terminate 60–70 people on any Indian street is finally put to best use by Ossian Agro Automation. “Nano Ganesh,” a revolutionary electronic device, has exemplified the best of leapfrog technology by empowering the Indian farmers to remotely monitor irrigation pumps from their mobile phones.

I can understand how happy the farmers might be back in the villages, where electricity supply is erratic and farmers walk several kilometers to where the irrigation pumps are located. Now, though, by dialing a simple code number on their mobile phones, the farmers can connect to the wireless device attached to the irrigation pumps and start it from just about anywhere in the field.
