To keep the cerebral chattels of music companies, film studios, gaming and software developers, the big guns, Warner, Disney and Fox, are set to work on implanted RFID chips in all DVDs, which will allow them to track the CD from the factory to your home PCs.

The chipped DVDs will easily figure out, whether you are running a copied or original disc on your home DVD player. Starting with DVD movies, they have plans to switch over to into HD DVDs and Blu-ray as well.

For the purpose, you need a new DVD player, means your old player or DVDs will ensure a place in your junk yard, as they are not sure whether the disc will run smoothly on non-RFID players.

It will be too early to comment more, since it is only an initiative, it is better to wait until it turn up to stores and your home.
