Immersive multiplayer gaming system bridges gap amid real and virtual

Video game consoles have really taken a leap this year; motion and gesture sensing have been taken to a scale where even the likes of Wii have been looked down upon. Now here is the immersive multiplayer gaming system, an entrant in the genre that puts keyboards and mice into the old closet, and veils the Wii, though it follows the same principle.

Developed by a team of game designers of the National University of Singapore, the system merges or lessens the gap between the real and virtual world with augmented reality in case. Herein to experience the system, a player is expected to wear a head-mounted display and hold a motion sensing wand. The motion tracking system with real-time feedback tracks a player’s move, jump, aim etc, allowing the on screen avatar to mimic all real actions.

The system features a camera built into the head-mounted display in front, which captures the player’s real-world view, thus allowing him to play in any open environment courtesy the embedded augmented reality. So you experience a real world where you can move around freely, while the display keeps track on all your actions, are your good to kill the bad guys, or… why not give it a try and experience.
