Ikaros solar yacht gives wing to future space tourism ventures

While American space policy has raised critical questions regarding the future of human spaceflight in particular, and global space programs more generally, but there’s a sigh of relief as the Ikaros space yacht prepares to sail into outer space. Powered by sunlight particles, the Ikaros will blast off from the Tanegashima space center in southern Japan on May 18. The $17.5 million project also marks the first use of this new technology in deep space. So, if the mission is successful and cost-effective, this modest space program will certainly give more wings to our desire to explore and understand outer space, and of course, we are counting this as a major player in future space tourism projects.
