Iceotope’s amazing liquid-cooled server tech makes things efficient
Liquid cooling solution for data center servers is in, and as IBM states could be the best cooling solution in about ten years. Iceotope, an UK based company has introduced a new liquid-cooled server technology dubbed the modular Liquid-immersion Cooled Server technology. Launched at the Supercomputing 2009 event in Portland, Oregon, Iceotope believe their technology is more defining and efficient than water cooling.

The peculiarity of this cooling system is that here each server is wrapped in a cool-bag-like device that’s done precisely to keep the components cool inside the device. This technique works as a synthetic coolant bath for the server components inside the bag, instead of doing so for the entire data center. A cooling module is created inside a sealed compartment, wherein the server components are rested to be cooled thereby reducing the data center cooling costs by about 93%. The excess heat produced by the server components outside the data center is channelized by water. Video demonstration after the jump.
