IBM has introduced a new technology called 'Chip Cap' that is intended to make the processor chips cooler.

The Chip Cap uses a network of tree-like branched channels to improve the contact between the Processor and the heat sink. This technology will not only make the processors cooler but will also allow the manufacturers to develop faster chips.

The current technology involves the use of silicon or silver to transfer the heat to the sink that is an inefficient way as the faster processors need more fans to cool them.

The Chip Cap increases the heat transfer by ten times and it requires half the pressure that is usually applied thus making the heat transfer process more safe for the processor chip.

This also makes the systems more energy efficient as conventional means of cooling require more power for the fans than for the processor.
