Now a new industry may let you enjoy an underwater ride in your own submarine. Don’t be surprised and don’t think I am speculating about a time 20 or 30 years ahead. A new vessel called the Hyper-Sub is the world’s first small craft built with the horsepower, sea-keeping, and range to allow operation on the high seas, which also functions as a self-charging, autonomous, one-atmosphere submarine. With 500-mile range, it can invade the sea at 40 knots and can dive into the depths of 250 feet.
Mr. Marion, the designer of this small submarine, claims to have cherished the dream of designing something like this from his childhood, which took 31 years of persistent learning to materialize. Currently, only a prototype of this dream ride is prepared, but soon one can hope to own an ABS certified machine of this kind. Go through the gallery below for some fine pictures and a video.
