HybRed: A mod cut out for gaming

Posted By: Gagandeep Sharma | Jun 28 2008

iMac won’t qualify as your gaming machine (I mean seriously), and neither will those laptops that are heavy on power but burn a big hole in your pocket. A mod seems the only way out or so thinks one Mr. Ville 'Willek' Kyrö. And frankly after seeing HybRed, the result of his modding endeavors, I’m inclined to concur. What 'Willek' aimed at doing was building an ultimate lanbox and he seems to have successfully accomplished that. Moving on the lines of Apple’s iMac, the modder has combined the power and display of the system into one aluminum box. The HybRed runs on A64 3500+ and GeForce 6800GT PCI-e bus and that’s tucked behind a 17-inch LCD panel. Quite obviously the aluminum box (despite being custom-made) couldn’t house a powerful enough fan, so Willek separated the power supply from CPU and placed it in an external case. And what’s a mod without a bit extra lighting, right. HybRed doesn’t disappoint here either and includes tons and tons of LEDs glowing bright orange (or maybe red). Just let the sun go down and action begins on this ultimate gaming hack. OR maybe you need to build one before that, follow the link and jump for some more pics.
