HP web-connected, touchscreen printer despises a computer

HP has introduced the Photosmart Premium printer with Touch Smart Web and this development ushers in a new era of printers that would no longer be dependent on the computer. This is thanks to a Wi-Fi enabled touchscreen that would let you print directly from the web. Come September, the Premium Printer would become the flagship model for HP, and in a way it would be the flagship for all printers we’ve known until date. HP has teamed up with the likes of Google, Fandango, Snapfish, DreamWorks and Disney (to name a few) so that users could have easy access to printing maps, coupons, movie tickets and so on.

Other than the 4.33-inch LCD touchscreen (the largest-ever display on a printer) it also adores the regularities like printer/scanner/fax/copier, USB 2.0, 802.11b/g/n wireless, Ethernet and Bluetooth connectivity. The impressive HP paper feed technology that automatically senses the size of media needed to a complete a job would also be around, along with five individual ink cartridges.

What is great is the fact that the Touch Smart Web service will not cost a dime and thankfully so, for the $400 price tag already sounds hefty. When a printer starts functioning as the platform for web applications, it sure is a novelty bound to change the future.
