HP joins new writing speed standard with its first internal 18x DVD writer

Lite-on IT, the Taiwanese optical disc drive maker and the manufacturer of HP's drives, revealed that HP is all set for its first internal DVD writer with 18x speed, which will be HP's new writing speed standard. The new writer not only rolls on 18x speeds but also supports the LightScribe label printing system.

Capable of tackling all the major DVD and CD recordable and rewriteable formats, the HPdvd940i can work with dual-layer media as well. Also, you may turn the disc over and inscribe the tag, after consuming the data.
No words on pricing but the HPdvd940i will be available to the customers by the month of November.
