Would you like to turn your room into a planetarium? Here is an awesome tutorial to achieve the effect. The wonderful do-it-yourself project introduced by Danny Mavromatis is a dream come true for interior designing buffs who want to give their abode a celebrated look.
The project involves over 11,000 feet of fiber optics to create the star ceiling bedecked with around 350 constellation stars, 600 milky way stars and shooting stars onto the 10′x12′ virtual sky. Creating the fiber optic star ceiling demands a hell lot of patience, planning and of course passion; so stick to the three ‘Ps’ and enjoy the radiance of the midnight sky.

This sort of effect is excellent, particularly in kids’ bedrooms etc. Always make sure you get enough stars to cover the whole area of your ceiling. Good kits will have about 150 fibre optic star lights, about 6ft in length. Place the LED unit in the centre of the ceiling for best coverage. I bought mine from Star Ceiling Kits (www.starceilingkits.net), who were really helpful and the product was absolutely excellent, I can’t recommend them highly enough
You won’t believe how happy your kids will be when you install a fiber optic star ceiling in their room. They are also great for media/theater rooms. Check out Starceiling123.com for inexpensive fiber optic supplies and starter kits. Their store site is http://store.starceiling123.com.
