HOWTO: Build a dual-core PC without breaking the bank
With computers going dirt cheap, you might feel reluctant to build one of your own, but when it comes to fiddling with the latest dual-core processors and making a high performance dream machine of your own, you might not give it a second thought.

Alexander Wolfe here lures computer buffs to make a hi-tech system with a dual-core Athlon X2 processor from AMD. The whole project aims at creating a PC suitable for multimedia and gaming for around $1,400 and undoubtedly gives a constructive learning experience to the architects.
The tentative configuration goes as depicted; you can add hardware as per your choice too: Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6 GHz processor, Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 200 GB Hitachi Hard Drive, Diablo Black Case w/ 400 W Power Supply and Leadtek GeForce 6200 graphics card.
