Shell Eco-Marathon race started in 1939 between employees of Shell Oil's research laboratory in Wood River, Illinois, which has now occupied France, UK, and US.

Now it has become the battlefield for college and high school students, trying to build most efficient car, which can cover largest distance with just one gallon.
What has been most amazing feature of this race is that it featured world's most fuel-efficient car at 5,385 kilometers per liter. That means less than £5 for the one who owns a Shell Eco-Marathon car.
