Social networks are rapidly increasing in the world of internet and this has proved to be a boon most of the time. Facebook is one such social networking sites that have gained immense popularity over the years. Anyone and everyone who is slightly inclined toward technology for sure holds a Facebook account and the numbers are increasing by the day. When you want to share things with a similar-minded group, then you have the option of creating a group page on Facebook. This will enable you to post updates, share pictures and even chat with the entire group all at once. Follow the steps below to learn how to create a group on Facebook.

1. Searching for the group

• The first and foremost thing to do is to check if Facebook already has a group created in the area of your interest, be it music, arts, theater, photography, or fashion.
• You can do so by typing the name of the group you want to create in the search box at the top of the page.
• If it is already a registered group, then it will pop up.

• You need to then think of an original idea that would be unique but popular: a group of people will be interested in and can contribute to perhaps.
• Also think of a catchy name that would attract attention.

• Click on the home icon on your profile page.
• On the left-hand side of the page you will notice an icon "create group."
• Click on that and it will take you to a pop up that opens. Give the unique group name you have selected in the box mentioned.
• You can also choose an icon from the drop down box that would determine the network resembling the group. Photography, sports, fashion, etc.
• In the space below you can invite your friends to join the group. Just type out the first alphabet and Facebook will pick up the name. Click to add how many ever you wish.
• Once you have selected your friends, go to the privacy settings section and from the drop down box select the option you prefer: Open, Closed, or Secret.
• Click on create group and you are good to go.

• Once you have created the page you can start posting pictures, videos, discussions, etc.
• You can also create documents and do group chat sessions from the options on the side bar.

1. What is the difference between an Open, Closed, and Secret option for groups?

If you select the Open option while creating the group, this would mean that anyone searching would find the group and can see what the members post. On the other hand, Closed means everyone searching for the group can find it but only members can see and contribute to the posts. Secret option means only members can see and post on the group.

2. How can I leave a group half way through?

There is an option on the side bar that says "leave group." Click on that and once it asks for confirmation, say yes and it would take you off the group. You can however send a request to the administrator any time later to be part of the group again.

3. How do I delete a group forever?

On the page with the members, click on "see all." There will be an "X" mark next to each member. Click on that and delete each and every person. Once there are no members in the group, the group will be automatically deleted.

• Spamming is very common in groups. So make sure you invite people who are apt to the group and posts information valuable to everyone alike.
• Everyone can see anything you post. So watch what you post.
