Jake Ludington is here with an inexpensive, fast and easy way to archive all your computer data without any hassles on your digital video camera. Yes, you can do it, as computers take DV cameras as video source.
Digital Video camera and cheap MiniDV tapes can amass up to 10-15GB of backup. A MiniDV tape costs as much as $4 as compared to Dual-layer DVD+/-R blanks priced at $5-7 each and storing 8.5GB of data.
Also, as Jake Ludington, says:
Firestreamer can be used to connect the camera to the system as it acts as a bridge between your DV camera and the Windows XP Backup software. The data transfer speed may vary, but it’s expected at 187MB per minute with no protection or about 94MB per minute using the full duplication mode.MiniDV tape stores 8-12GB in SP mode or 12-18GB in LP mode, depending on how much compression is used during the backup process. The new 80min MiniDV tapes hold as much as 22GB in LP mode.
Thanks: Jake Ludington
