Natural calamities or disasters, such as earthquakes and floods, are one of the major threats that devour thousands of human lives every year, as it is not only difficult but somewhat impossible to escape the wrath of the supreme Nature.

Designer Jerzy Michal Rusin has popped up with his latest innovation, Hope light, which basically is a light system intended primarily for floods, for now, but it can also be modified for earthquakes and other debacles. The concept is an airtight plastic ball of 4cm diameter that is finished with a LED featuring a switch, inside, and battery life of about 100 hours. Three different modifications of switches will be accessible:
Fixed daylight switch activated in darkness.
Inertial switch activated when dropped with additional manual switch to turn on and off manually.
Switch based on IR sensor or odor sensor activated when close to people.
Special joints of the Hope light will allow a number of usage possibilities for the disaster victims to group in different shapes.
