When the mind is without fear, speed seems to have no limit — and taking life to the most adrenaline-gushing moments becomes passion. After the British-designed 1000mph Bloodhound, Supersonic Car claims to break all land speed records. A determined speed manic has taken self-creation to challenging new heights. Carolynne Campbell has built a bio-fuel-powered 300mph DIY drag racer in her own back garden, this crazy home-built rocket car does 0-100mph in less than half a second. Called Laffin Gas,” the hybrid rocket is 10 times more powerful than a F1 race car. Fueled by nitrous oxide and bio-fuel, the 400kg car built out of scrap, produces a thrust of 8,000lbs. The £500 rocket car made of airplane grade aluminum, titanium and chromium molybdenum steel uses 35kg of nitrous oxide – the nitrous oxygen is ignited by small fireworks, splitting oxygen and nitrogen into separate gases. Carolynne has reached amazing speeds of 200mph, hoping to someday cross the 300mph mark in the car, which requires two parachutes to bring it to a halt.

Watch This:
The rocket car was a dream project of Carolynne and partner David Knight. David was diagnosed with brain tumor and since then the rocket women herself slogged for five long years, spending £40,000 to make this hybrid rocket car. The oxygen in the car burns rapeseed oil soaked into cardboard tubes, sending the engine gushing at 2,500 degree Celsius. Building the car has been tough times for Carolynne – if she manages the 300mph mark someday, it will be a dream come true for her, also making her the fastest woman in the UK.
