HOME TWEET HOME
With the social networking rage taking the entire world into its firm grip, it was only a matter of time the buildings also started giving in-with a little bit of human aid ofcourse. Andy Stanford-Clark, a computer engineer has made a beginning by connecting his 16th century thatched cottage with Twitter. Andy scattered wireless sensors onto his household items thereby making them capable of sending him tweets. The sensors relay the information to a central hub that translates it into words using some specially written software.
Now suppose if any Andy forgets to turn of his bathroom heater, he would receive a Tweet of on his cellphone-‘Bathroom Heater Turned On’. This makes Andy completely aware about the things happening inside his Cottage and he has developed this combination to foster energy saving habits. If Andy is to be believed, he has already succeeded in saving one-third of the energy after hooking up his house with Twitter.
