HKC has just launched the W1000 and the G1000 Dual-SIM Pocket PCs giving them the unique status of making the world’s first Dual-Sim pocket PCs. Whoever said innovation doesn’t happen in China? Both these Pocket PCs are identical except for the language support. The W1000 is made for the rest of the English speaking world whereas the G1000 is for the Chinese home market. Coming to the features, both these Pocket PCs have the same specs right from their 200MHz Qualcomm processors to the 64Mb RAM chips and the 200MB ROM chips. Both the Pocket PCs run on Windows Mobile 6 platform, which make them suitable for tasks like document processing and for other basic computing applications.
The standout feature of both the Pocket PCs is certainly the Dual-SIM technology, and the Pocket PC can seamlessly shift between the 2 SIM’s or even service providers at the touch of a stylus. This feature will be particularly useful to the jetsetting executives. These Pocket PC’s have 2.2 inch QVGA colour displays and come with a Slider form. Connectivity comes in the form of Stereo Bluetooth and USB connect and a MicroSD expandable memory. Other bells and whistles which are present on both the phones are a 2 Megapixel camera and an MP3 player. Pocket PC lovers will surely miss the GPS and WiFi, which very surprisingly doesn’t make it to these phones. But the issue now is the pricing and availability as HKC’s “where to buy” webpage is not functional at the moment. So for now, we have a video of these phones in action, lined up for you.
